Skyhawks Steal Home Fail To Steal Game

Sussex, NJ – —The Skyhawks second half woes continued as they saw a win slip away in the ninth inning. The Skyhawks and jackals battled hard all game as they lead switched hands several times and no team ever leading by more than 2 runs. That all changed in the bottom of the ninth when Skyhawks pitcher Jake Brooks saw his save and the game dissipate one hit, error, and walk at a time and when it was all over the scoreboard read eight five and Marcos Agramonte was headed for the showers tossed by the third base umpire.

The Skyhawks came up with one last chance to steal the game as leadoff hitter James Cooper walked and a advanced to third after Josh Ury singled the Skyhawks stood with men on the corners and cleanup hitter Elvis Corporan at the plate already having driven in four runs on the game. Corporan swung and missed two go down to his final strike when all of a sudden Cooper took off by the time the Jackals knew what was happening Cooper reached home ahead of the ball for a clean steal of home. Coopers effort was not enough though as the Skyhawks fell to the Jackals eight to six.

Jake Brooks got the loss for Sussex while Jason Wylie picked up the win for New Jersey.
Bobby Lenoir went three for five and extended his hitting streak to 16 games.
