SKYHAWKS FALL TO JACKALS IN DOUBLEHEADER

Sussex, NJ – The Jackals and the Skyhawks don’t play each other again at Sussex until the end of the season, so the Jackals served as the visiting team in its home stadium to make-up the rained out game from June 13.

In the first game of the night the Jackals scored four runs in the top of the first inning and they maintained their advantage in the fifth inning by scoring two more runs, bringing the score to Sussex 0; Jackals 6.

The Skyhawks attempted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run blast by shortstop Chase Fontaine and a solo homer by designated hitter Caleb Stewart. Jackal's relief pitcher, Mike Pontius ended the game by recording the final five outs. The Jackals added another run in the top of the seventh while to secure the win. The final score was 3-7.

In game two the Jackals maintained thier lead by scoring 3 runs compared to the SKyhawk’s 2 runs. Jackals starting pitcher Isaac Pavlik allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out four in six innings of work to earn the win and improve to 3-1 on the year. Closer Romas Hicks took over in the seventh for New Jersey and allowed a run.
