SKYHAWKS SPLIT WITH TORNADOES

Sussex, NJ – 6/24/2010 - The Skyhawks won the completion of the suspended game from June 6th. Trialing 1-0 entering the seventh inning, Sussex plated all five of its runs in the frame and held on late to nab a narrow win over Worcester. Skyhawks 3B Mike Megale led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, one run scored and one RBI. Sussex reliever Kevin Gunter took over in the fourth inning and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in five innings of work to earn his second win of the season. Closer Duaner Sanchez gave Sussex a scare by allowing two runs in the ninth but held on for his ninth save.

In Thursday's regularly scheduled game, which was shortened to seven innings, the Skyhawks fell to the Tornadoes, 6-7. Despite getting out-hit 13-6, Worcester used a five-run third inning to hold off Sussex. Tornadoes CF Billy Cather led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a pair of RBI. 1B Nick Salotti also drove in two runs for Worcester and finished 1-for-3. Tornadoes starting pitcher Jon Hollis picked up his first win, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five in five innings.
