LOADENTHAL LEADS SKYHAWKS PAST CAPITALES

Sussex, NJ – The Sussex Skyhawks (10-11) erased an early 1-0 deficit on Monday night against the first-place Capitales de Quebec (18-5) and never trailed again, eventually picking up a 6-3 victory at CenturyLink Field at Skylands Park. Sussex starter RHP Mike McGuire earned his third win of the season with a six-inning, three-run performance, allowing four hits and two walks. Quebec RHP Dan Sausville, the Can-Am League’s ERA leader entering tonight’s game, surrendered four runs in six innings on seven hits and three walks and absorbed the loss. Sussex closer RHP Duaner Sanchez pitched another perfect ninth inning and picked up his seventh save of the year while lowering his team-best ERA to 1.08.

Sussex CF Carl Loadenthal paced the offense with a 4-for-5, two-RBI night at the plate and also stole two bases. 2B Joe Persichina knocked in two runs as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk. The bullpen was flawless in the win as newly signed RHP Matt Salvato, LHP Jared Locke and Sanchez combined for three innings of scoreless relief without allowing a hit.

The ’Hawks and Capitales will be back at it again Tuesday night for the middle game of this three-game set. LHP Jeff Icenogle will be on the hill for the home team during another D&H Alternative Risk Solutions “Score an A” Program night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
