'HAWKS HOLD OFF TORNADOES

Sussex, NJ – Sussex scored two vital insurance runs and held off a Worcester rally in the bottom of the ninth to pull out a 5-4 win. The Skyhawks grabbed control of the game early when 3B Jansy Infante singled home two unearned runs in the top of the fourth to give them a 3-1 lead. Five Worcester errors aided Sussex, which added another unearned and one earned run in the top of the ninth when CF Carl Loadenthal knocked in a pair. However, the Tornadoes’ offense, which had been held in check by starter Mike McGuire for most of the game, came to life in the bottom of the ninth to make things interesting. They scored three runs off of relievers Jared Yecker and Duaner Sanchez before Sanchez struck out LF Vinny Pennell to end the game.
