FONTAINE LEADS HAWKS TO VICTORY
5/27/10 - Sussex 2B Chase Fontaine knocked in three runs on two doubles and the Skyhawks held New Jersey to three runs to collect their first victory in a 4-3 opening night win at home. Sussex starter Jeff Icenogle gave up just two hits while shutting out the Jackals through 5 innings and the bullpen backed him up with 4 innings of three-run ball to hold off the Jackals’ offense. The Skyhawks scored a single unearned tally in the first on a Fontaine two-bagger, and plated three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. New Jersey scored two in the sixth and one in the eighth, but couldn’t find the final run they needed to tie the game. Veteran closer Duaner Sanchez earned his first save of the season with a scoreless ninth. |
